Set2Go and BuilderShield: which one suits a site induction?
Short answer: Set2Go suits a business that already has an induction PowerPoint and wants workers to finish that deck on a phone, then optionally scan a site QR code and enter a PIN. BuilderShield's own pages describe a QR safety portal: induction forms, daily check-in, SWMS, plant, SDS, policies, and other site registers, with no app for workers. If you need that form library, BuilderShield is the better fit. Each BuilderShield paragraph in the table is taken from those pages, with the page linked, and was checked on 22 October 2026. A line that starts with "Our reading" is this page's summary of those paragraphs, not a further BuilderShield quote.

Set2Go is safety administration. It is not a statutory WHS system. Using it does not, by itself, meet your work health and safety duties.

|---|---|---|
| Who it suits | A construction or trades business that already has a site induction PowerPoint. You invite the workers. They do not self-register. The same phone induction can run with no site: a company-wide pass counts across the company, and a worker with an email address gets a reminder when that pass is inside the retake window and again when it has expired. Set2Go does not publish a limit to residential building. It is safety administration, not a statutory WHS system, and it does not write your WHS management plan. | BuilderShield's homepage calls it a digital safety portal "designed to simplify complying with OHS regulations." The same answer says it offers SWMS, site inductions, plant inductions, toolbox talks, injury reporting, an SDS register, and policies. The portal opens from a link or a QR code, and contractors and workers do not have to download an app. Asked whether it guarantees OHS management, the page says OHS management is your obligation, and that BuilderShield streamlines forms and puts SDS and policies within reach. BuilderShield homepage. The homepage describes one system for builders and site managers, developers and project managers, contractors and tradies, and office and admin staff. It says contractors and tradies scan the QR code and complete the form on a phone, with no app download. BuilderShield homepage. The about page says BuilderShield is "specifically designed for independent builders - not tier-1 companies." BuilderShield about. |
| Site induction | Upload the .pptx you already use. Workers see those slides on their phone, one at a time. The quiz stays locked until the full deck on that attempt has been viewed. It does not unlock after each slide. Set2Go timestamps when each slide was first viewed. The timestamp shows the slide was opened. It does not show how long someone looked at it, and it does not show that they understood it. A certificate is issued when they pass. If you set how long a pass lasts, the record shows the expiry, and a pass that is due for a retake is marked that way. You write the questions. Set2Go does not draft them, and it does not issue a general construction induction card or ask for a photo of one. | The site induction page says workers scan the site QR, complete the induction, and the dashboard stores a PDF as proof. It says the form captures worker details, signatures, and site acknowledgments. The register answer says each submission is time-stamped and stays available for site audits. The page says every employee, subcontractor, and tradie should complete a site induction before they start work on your site. BuilderShield site inductions. |
| Gate and who is on site | At a site, an invited worker scans the site QR code and enters a 6-digit PIN they set the first time. If they have not acknowledged the current site rules, they step through those rules before the check-in button is available. Check-in is refused when no induction applies to that site, or an applicable induction is not started, in progress, failed, or expired. In the 14 days before a pass expires, the status needs a retake, and check-in is still allowed. A live board shows open check-ins, so you can see who is on site. The site safety board lists who is on site and whether each worker is current, expired, not inducted, or due a retake. A worker check-in with no signal queues on the phone and syncs later. Sign-out is not queued. A visitor without a worker account can check in with a name and an optional company. Visitor check-in needs a connection. | The site check-in page says workers who have already completed a site induction scan the site QR, confirm they have been inducted, and check in for the day in under 30 seconds. It says there is no app, no login, and no password. Returning workers see their name and company filled in from that phone, select the site, agree to a declaration, and sign. The page says that declaration includes acknowledging that their induction and safety documents are still current. Each check-in is logged with name, company, site, and time. The dashboard can filter by worksite, search by name, and download a PDF. BuilderShield site check-in. A public BuilderShield safety hub includes a form headed "Site Check In/Out." The text says: "Already completed your site induction? Check in or check out for the day on the same form." BuilderShield safety hub. The site signs page says every account gets a free QR safety sign and an A4 SWMS poster. Workers scan that QR, with no app or password, to complete forms and open policies and the SDS register. The page also describes a branded pro sign at 1200x1200mm. It does not print a dollar price for that pro sign. BuilderShield site signs. Our reading: The site check-in feature page describes a daily attendance record. It does not describe check-out. The public safety hub labels the form Site Check In/Out and says check-out is on the same form. Both pages were public on this date. This page does not guess how a check-out time is stored. The check-in page's declaration is the worker agreeing that their induction and documents are still current. That is not the same as a status calculated from an expiry date. |
| SWMS, policies, and site registers | Set2Go does not write your WHS management plan, your site rules, or your policies. You can store site rules, and you can store a SWMS you write. Set2Go does not draft the hazards or controls, and it does not collect a subcontractor's SWMS for you. An invited worker can acknowledge an active SWMS. The record stores that worker and the version they signed. If the site has the SWMS module on, the checked-in screen lists active SWMS that worker has not acknowledged. That prompt does not block the check-in button. A supervisor can save a monitoring record against the controls on an active SWMS, including whether a control was in place and any non-conformance. A company record can store an insurance expiry date that you enter. Set2Go does not publish a plant register, an SDS register, policy templates, an electrical box check, a test and tag register, a site establishment checklist, or a weekly site checklist. | The homepage says "13 OHS forms, registers and policies, all in one portal," and names Site Inductions, Site Check-In, SWMS Register, SDS Register, Plant Register, Toolbox Talks, Injury Register, Hazard Register, WHS/OHS Policies, Electrical Box Check, Electrical Test & Tag, Site Establishment, and Weekly Checklist. BuilderShield homepage. The SWMS page says you send contractors one link so they can create a SWMS, upload an existing one, or sign on to a SWMS. PDFs are saved in the dashboard and can be searched. The page says the site has a dedicated link and QR code, and that the office can track each submission. BuilderShield SWMS. The policies page says you can add a logo and company name to 9 site policies, including templates for bullying, drug and alcohol, OHS, PPE, and UV exposure. Any policy can be edited in the dashboard, and workers can open the policies from the safety portal. The cost answer says BuilderShield is one plan that includes policies and every other feature, with a 14-day free trial, and it points to the pricing page for the current price. BuilderShield policies. The plant register page says operators scan the QR and register plant, operator, and licence details when machinery arrives. It says a plant induction can be completed in under two minutes, and a PDF is stored in the dashboard. BuilderShield plant register. The SDS page says contractors upload one or more Safety Data Sheet PDFs in one submission, choose the worksites and trade, and can rename each file. It says uploads are published to the safety portal straight away, without waiting for admin approval, and workers can filter by worksite and trade. BuilderShield SDS register. The same safety hub includes Company/Contractor Induction: register company details and upload Public Liability and WorkCover documents. It also says people upload Safety Data Sheets for the products their company uses, and browse those sheets by worksite and trade. BuilderShield safety hub. The electrical box check page says a licensed electrician scans the site QR and submits a check with a licence photo, a photo of the site electrical box, and sign-off. PDFs sit in an Electrical Box Register. The page says this form is separate from test and tag: box checks cover the temporary site supply, and test and tag covers portable equipment. BuilderShield electrical box check. The test and tag page says a tester logs portable equipment from a phone: class, tag colour and number, pass or fail, next due date, a licence photo, and a signature. Retests stay on the same equipment record. The admin register can show overdue tests and a PDF for each submission. The page refers to AS/NZS 3760 for how portable equipment should be inspected and tagged. BuilderShield test and tag. The site establishment page says a checklist covers 14 setup areas, including signage, utilities, first aid, and welfare, answered Yes, No, or N/A. It is signed, and a PDF is sent to the office. BuilderShield site establishment. The weekly checklist page says each active site can be checked across 20 areas, including inductions, SWMS, toolbox talks, scaffolds, and ladders. The checklist is signed, timestamped, and stored as a PDF. BuilderShield weekly checklist. |
| Toolbox talks, hazards, and follow-up | A supervisor records today's toolbox talk on the site safety board: who ran it, the time, the topic, and any notes. Attendees are picked from who is checked in. A checked-in worker can confirm attendance. Open hazards are listed on the same board. Set2Go does not transcribe the talk, and it does not take an attendee photo. It does not publish a hazard form that anyone can submit from the gate QR, an injury report with a photo, SMS follow-up for a missing white card, or a connection that lets Claude or ChatGPT read the site records. | The toolbox talks page says the host can transcribe the talk live, save the notes, take a photo of the attendees, and store a signed PDF in the dashboard. BuilderShield toolbox talks. The hazard register page says anyone on site, including a visitor, can scan the QR and report a hazard with a photo, a risk level, and details. It says no app, login, or password is required. A PDF is emailed to the office, and the dashboard tracks follow-up until the hazard is marked resolved. BuilderShield hazard register. The injury register page says a worker can submit an injury report from the site QR, with details, a photo, and prevention steps, and a PDF is stored. The same page says serious incidents must also be reported to the state regulator straight away, and that BuilderShield records the injury but does not notify the regulator for you. BuilderShield injury register. The auto follow-up page says a worker can submit a form and add a white card, licence, or plant photo later. Every Monday and Thursday evening, for forms from the last four weeks, BuilderShield sends an SMS and an email with a link to upload a missing white card, licence, plant photo, or SWMS document. Each morning it emails a subcontractor whose public liability or WorkCover expires within 7 days. The page says that schedule cannot be changed at the moment. You can send a request yourself from the company page in the dashboard. BuilderShield auto follow-up. The admin dashboard page says SWMS, inductions, plant registrations, and other forms land in one dashboard, organised by project and by form type. You can search, filter by site or date, and download a PDF. It says the dashboard works in a phone, tablet, or desktop browser, with no app download. An admin signs in through the browser. BuilderShield admin dashboard. The AI connections page says a BuilderShield plan or the free trial can be connected to Claude or ChatGPT. A connected app can read worksites, subcontractors, inductions, check-ins, hazards, injuries, checklists, SWMS, policies, toolbox talks, and registers. If you allow drafts, it can draft SWMS and policies that stay hidden until you check and publish them. The page says a connected app cannot publish, change, or delete records. It also says AI connections are experimental and can be paused. The sample chat on that page is not used here as a customer. BuilderShield AI connections. Our reading: The homepage says follow-up on incomplete forms. The auto follow-up page names the items it chases: a missing white card, licence, plant photo, or SWMS document, plus public liability or WorkCover inside 7 days. This page uses that feature page for what is sent. |
| Price and trial | Free is A$0 for 1 active site and up to 10 workers. Starter is A$79 a month or A$790 a year, including GST, with 3 active sites and unlimited workers. Extra active sites are A$25 a month, including GST. There is no separate price per worker. Founding is A$49 a month, including GST, for the first 10 companies, for 12 months. The trial is 14 days, with no card. Starter has no lock-in contract. | The homepage lists unlimited projects and workers at one flat price, a personal dashboard with all forms as PDFs, and auto SMS and email follow-up on incomplete forms. BuilderShield homepage. The pricing page shows one plan at "$139 /month", with the lines "Billed monthly. Prices exclude GST." Beside Monthly and Yearly it shows "Save $269". The setup-fee answer says there is no setup fee, and states "BuilderShield is $139/month or $1,399/year (excluding GST)". The page says unlimited projects and submissions are included, there is no per-worker fee, and one account login is shared across the team with no per-seat fee. BuilderShield pricing. The pricing page says "Try it free for 14 days, no credit card required," and that you get full access for 14 days without entering payment details. It says to add a payment method before the 14-day trial ends to keep your forms running. You can stay on monthly, switch to annual, or cancel anytime. It says the dashboard has a help section, and the team can be reached by phone or email. That in-app help section was not opened for this comparison. BuilderShield pricing. Our reading: BuilderShield prints "Prices exclude GST." Set2Go prices include GST, so the printed amounts are not on the same tax basis. This page does not add GST to BuilderShield's numbers. The homepage says unlimited workers at one flat price. The pricing page says one shared account login, with no per-seat fee and no per-worker fee. The pricing page does not describe a free plan that continues after the 14-day trial: it says to add a payment method before the trial ends to keep the forms running. |
Set2Go prices, the free plan, and the 14-day trial are written up on the pricing page. Inductions without a gate are contractor inductions. The gate itself is site sign-in.
What those BuilderShield pages do not describe
- None of the BuilderShield pages checked on this date describe uploading an existing PowerPoint, walking through it slide by slide, or storing a time for each slide. That is an absence on those pages. It is not a finding that the feature cannot exist somewhere else.
- None of those pages describe a quiz, whether locked until the full deck has been viewed or opened after each slide.
- None of those pages describe a PIN at scan-in, or a check-in that is refused because an induction is not started, in progress, failed, or expired.
- None of those pages describe a company-wide induction that runs with no site, or an email when an induction pass is about to expire or has expired. The auto follow-up page does describe an email when public liability or WorkCover is about to expire, and the test and tag page describes overdue equipment tests. Those are different records.
- The public knowledge base at https://www.buildershield.com.au/knowledge-base lists builder guides. The index shows dates from 28 January 2026 to 19 March 2026. Those articles were not used as product claims. The pricing page says the dashboard has a help section. That section is behind a login, so it was not read on 22 October 2026.
- BuilderShield publishes named reviews and a Google review score on the homepage and the pricing page. This comparison does not use them.
FAQ
Is Set2Go a replacement for BuilderShield?
Set2Go suits a business that already has an induction PowerPoint and wants each worker to finish that deck on a phone, with a quiz after the full deck and an optional site QR code and PIN. BuilderShield's pages describe QR forms for site inductions, daily check-in, SWMS, plant, SDS, policies, toolbox talks, hazards, and injuries, plus follow-up for missing documents. If that form library is what you need, BuilderShield is the better fit. Set2Go does not publish those registers.
When is BuilderShield the better fit?
BuilderShield is the better fit when workers should scan a site QR and submit forms with no app and no password: a site induction PDF, a daily check-in, a SWMS they create or upload, plant and licence details, SDS uploads, policy templates, a toolbox transcript and attendee photo, hazard and injury reports, SMS and email reminders for a missing white card or licence, and an email before subcontractor insurance or WorkCover expires. Set2Go is the better fit when the induction you already have is a PowerPoint, you want each slide view timestamped, the quiz locked until the full deck has been viewed, a certificate when they pass, and an optional gate with a site QR code and a PIN. A company-wide induction can run on Set2Go with no site, with an email reminder as the pass approaches expiry.
Does BuilderShield run my PowerPoint slide by slide?
The BuilderShield pages checked on 22 October 2026 do not describe uploading a PowerPoint, walking through slides, or saving a time for each slide. They describe a site induction form completed from the site QR and stored as a time-stamped PDF.
Can the printed prices be compared as they stand?
Set2Go prices include GST. BuilderShield's pricing page prints "Prices exclude GST", so the printed numbers are not on the same tax basis. BuilderShield publishes one plan at $139/month or $1,399/year excluding GST, and a 14-day trial with no card. Set2Go also has a 14-day trial with no card, and after the trial a workspace stays on Free if it is within Free limits. Starter has no lock-in contract. Use each company's pricing page before you decide. Details may change. This page was checked on 22 October 2026.
Will either product meet my WHS duties for me?
Using either product does not, by itself, meet your work health and safety duties. Set2Go is safety administration, not a statutory WHS system. Asked whether BuilderShield guarantees OHS management, its homepage answers that OHS management is your obligation. BuilderShield's injury page says it does not notify the state regulator for you. You remain responsible for your duties as a PCBU or principal contractor, and for the content of your induction, site rules, and SWMS.
Do workers need an invite before they can scan in?
On Set2Go, yes. You invite them. They do not self-register. BuilderShield's check-in page says a worker opens the safety portal from the site QR in a browser, with no app, no login, and no password.
