Set2Go and BuildPass: which one suits a site induction?

Short answer: Set2Go suits a business that already has an induction PowerPoint and wants workers to finish that deck on a phone, then optionally scan a site QR code and enter a PIN. BuildPass's own pages describe phone inductions with a manager review, subcontractor SWMS, and geofenced sign-on, inside a wider site and finance platform. If you want that platform, BuildPass is the better fit. Each BuildPass paragraph in the table is taken from those pages, with the page linked, and was checked on 24 October 2026. A line that starts with "Our reading" is this page's summary of those paragraphs, not a further BuildPass quote.

Who it suitsA construction or trades business that already has a site induction PowerPoint. You invite the workers. They do not self-register. The same phone induction can run with no site: a company-wide pass counts across the company, and a worker with an email address gets a reminder when that pass is inside the retake window and again when it has expired. Set2Go does not publish estimating, finance, drawings, or defect management. It is safety administration, not a statutory WHS system, and it does not write your WHS management plan.

The privacy policy is headed Updated June 27, 2026. It is published by BuildPass Pty Ltd ACN 652 324 635. It says the policy follows the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the GDPR. It describes BuildPass as the company's construction management digital platform. BuildPass privacy policy.

The terms of service are headed Updated July 27, 2026. They say BuildPass is a digital platform to manage building projects and construction sites, and they define the company as BuildPass Pty Ltd ACN 652 324 635. They say the company offers subscriptions of different levels and of varying lengths, including monthly and annual. They say that, where applicable, promotions may affect the subscription fee, which may include free trial periods. They do not state how many days a trial lasts, or whether a card is required to start one. BuildPass terms of service.

The Australian homepage headline is "Construction management software to run your building business." It says BuildPass brings estimating, finance and site management onto one platform, from the first estimate to the final payment. It says head contractors, project managers and consultants across Australia run estimating, site management and finance on BuildPass, from boutique residential to large commercial sites. The site-management list on that page is scheduling, drawings, site diaries, inductions, sign-ons, SWMS and defect management. The page's action is "Book a demo". It does not print a price or a trial length. One FAQ answer says BuildPass was started in Melbourne for Australians across the country. Another says it is built for small and large builders, and names an in-platform SWMS builder. BuildPass Australian homepage.

The plans page says "Pick a Build plan, then bolt on Win & Pay when you're ready. Unlimited projects, subcontractors and workers on every plan." Lite is labelled "Site compliance" and described as "Safety and compliance on site, without the paperwork. Inductions, sign ons, SWMS and site diaries, run from the phone in their pocket." Its listed contents are inductions, sign ons, SWMS, site diaries, checklists, insurances, tickets and BuildPass AI. Standard is labelled "Run the job" and "Most popular", and is "Lite, plus the day-to-day job admin: scheduling, documents, actions, notices and timesheets." Pro is "The full site": drawings, defects, RFIs, submittals and permits, plus workflows, and the longer list adds messaging, pre-qualifications and emergency evacuations. Win & Pay is preconstruction and finance, added to any Build plan. Enterprise is described as multiple entities, single sign on, custom access and permissions, white labelling and access control integrations, plus bespoke reporting, a custom implementation plan, and an SLA on chat and phone support. BuildPass plans.

Our reading: The homepage describes one platform for estimating, finance and the site, for Australian head contractors from boutique residential to large commercial. Lite is the site-compliance slice of that platform: inductions, sign ons, SWMS and site diaries. Set2Go does not publish the estimating or finance half. If that wider platform is what you need, BuildPass is the better fit.

Site inductionUpload the .pptx you already use. Workers see those slides on their phone, one at a time. The quiz stays locked until the full deck on that attempt has been viewed. It does not unlock after each slide. Set2Go timestamps when each slide was first viewed. The timestamp shows the slide was opened. It does not show how long someone looked at it, and it does not show that they understood it. A certificate is issued when they pass. If you set how long a pass lasts, the record shows the expiry, and a pass that is due for a retake is marked that way. You write the questions. Set2Go does not draft them. It does not issue a general construction induction card. A company can store a ticket you enter, including a white card, with an optional photo or PDF. That file is your record. Set2Go does not issue the card.

The inductions page says workers scan the site QR or open a link and do their induction on their phone, with their certifications and SWMS in the same flow. The site manager reads the answers and marks the induction reviewed, and a worker with an unfinished induction cannot sign on. The steps say workers confirm their mobile number and fill in their profile, and can carry on in the browser without the app. They can finish it from home. The page says you can drop the QR requirement for some projects or all of them. Workers do a company induction once for the whole business, then a site induction for each project. Updating the induction does not make everyone redo it: BuildPass shows which version they did, and a redo is a request for changes. BuildPass inductions.

The same page says you build a template with questions that only show when an earlier answer calls for them, and you can add the site safety plan as a PDF. The PDF shows page by page. It says "A slide deck needs exporting to PDF first, and Word files aren't accepted." Asked whether one wrong answer can stop a worker passing, it says no: "Questions don't have a pass mark." The answers come back to you, and you mark the induction reviewed or request changes. A setting can stop sign-on until that review. Once an induction is reviewed, you can download a QR code for the worker's helmet sticker. Required certifications and SWMS are steps inside the induction. BuildPass inductions.

Our reading: A PDF of a site safety plan, shown page by page after a slide deck is exported, is not the same as playing the PowerPoint and storing a time for each slide. BuildPass says the questions have no pass mark: a person marks the induction reviewed. Set2Go records a quiz result and issues a certificate when they pass. It does not publish that review step, a helmet-sticker QR, or a company induction that is separate from the site induction.

Gate and who is on siteAt a site, an invited worker scans the site QR code and enters a 6-digit PIN they set the first time. If they have not acknowledged the current site rules, they step through those rules before the check-in button is available. Check-in is refused when no induction applies to that site, or an applicable induction is not started, in progress, failed, or expired. In the 14 days before a pass expires, the status needs a retake, and check-in is still allowed. A live board shows open check-ins, so you can see who is on site. The site safety board lists who is on site and whether each worker is current, expired, not inducted, or due a retake. A worker check-in with no signal queues on the phone and syncs later. Sign-out is not queued. A visitor without a worker account can check in with a name and an optional company. Visitor check-in needs a connection. A new site does not turn the pre-start module on. If you turn it on and today's agenda is published, check-in can warn and still go ahead, or it can stay blocked until that agenda is acknowledged. Set2Go does not geofence the site, and it does not sign a worker out when their phone leaves.

The sign-on page says workers scan the QR on the hoarding, choose "I am a worker on site", confirm today's Notices, and sign on from their phone. Visitors use a shorter form you set, such as who they are visiting and a photo of their ID, and they can sign themselves off. An unfinished induction always blocks sign on. Settings can also block anyone missing a required certification, or wait until you have reviewed the induction. If you switch it on, sign-on also checks certifications and the company's SWMS. The site manager sees who is still on site in one list. You can tick workers and sign them all off at once, or 7.6 hours after the first sign on. Attendance for a date range can be exported as CSV or PDF, with each worker's hours and a total. The page says each day's sign ons become one record per worker that Timesheets reads. BuildPass sign ons.

The same page says you set a radius around the site. Workers get a push to sign on as they arrive and to sign off as they leave. With auto sign on and off, which the page marks in Beta, the phone does both at the boundary, so the times come from the site rather than memory. Setup is geolocation reminders and auto sign on/off in Sign On settings, a project with coordinates, and location allowed for the BuildPass app. The page says it covers all projects and starts after each worker's first manual sign on at that site. Asked whether BuildPass tracks where workers are, the page says no. Location triggers the reminders and auto sign on. A phone may attach one position when the worker signs on and off. There is no tracking in between, and the team cannot view that position. By default, workers scan the QR every day. You can drop that requirement, or use the arrival push so sign-on opens without a scan. BuildPass sign ons.

The comparison table marks Inductions, Sign ons, SWMS, Tickets, Insurances and Geofencing as included on Lite, Standard and Pro. Safety data sheets are marked not included on Lite and included on Standard and Pro. Emergency evacuations and permits are marked not included on Lite and Standard, and included on Pro. Notices and timesheets are marked not included on Lite. The FAQ says all three plans run site safety and compliance: inductions, sign ons, SWMS, site diaries, forms and checklists. It says Standard adds the day-to-day job admin, including scheduling, documents, actions, notices and timesheets. It says Pro adds drawings, defects, RFIs, submittals, permits, messaging and workflows. Support is live chat on Lite, live chat and phone on Standard, and live chat, phone and a dedicated Customer Success Manager on Pro. Reporting history is the previous 90 days on Lite, and unlimited on Standard and Pro. BuildPass plans.

The Lite page says workers complete their site induction on their own phone before they turn up, SWMS get signed by the people doing the work, and tickets and insurances sit against the company with their expiry dates. The module list says tickets track worker tickets and competencies, with expiry dates. The Geofencing line says "Sign workers on and off automatically as they arrive at and leave the site." The same page says everything listed is included, with no per-project or per-worker charge. It says scheduling, documents, actions, notices, timesheets and the client portal start on Standard, and that drawings, defects, RFIs, submittals, permits, messaging and workflows start on Pro. BuildPass Lite plan.

Our reading: The sign-on page describes confirming today's Notices before sign-on. The plans table marks Notices as not included on Lite, and the plans FAQ puts notices with Standard's job admin. The sign-on page also says each day's sign ons become a record that Timesheets reads, and the plans FAQ puts timesheets on Standard. The Lite page says geofencing signs workers on and off automatically. The sign-on page says auto sign on and off is in Beta, and that the other level is a push to sign on or off. This page quotes both and does not pick one. On 24 October 2026, https://www.buildpass.ai/features/health-and-safety/geofencing returned a 308 redirect to the sign-on page. The sign-on page is the source for that behaviour. BuildPass says location is not continuous tracking. These pages do not describe a PIN, or a check-in that queues with no signal.

SWMS, tickets, and insuranceSet2Go does not write your WHS management plan, your site rules, or your policies. You can store site rules, and you can store a SWMS you write. Set2Go does not draft the hazards or controls, and it does not collect a subcontractor's SWMS for you. An invited worker can acknowledge an active SWMS. The record stores that worker and the version they signed. If the site has the SWMS module on, the checked-in screen lists active SWMS that worker has not acknowledged. That prompt does not block the check-in button. A supervisor can save a monitoring record against the controls on an active SWMS, including whether a control was in place and any non-conformance. You can record a worker's ticket, with an optional expiry date and an optional photo or PDF. If a site lists required tickets, a missing or expired ticket, or a missing photo when the company requires one, shows a warning at check-in. That warning does not block the check-in button. A company record can store an insurance expiry date that you enter. Set2Go does not publish an insurance document upload, a SWMS review checklist, or a signature that expires after a number of days.

The SWMS page says subcontractors send a SWMS through a request link, or fill in the SWMS builder on their phone, with no BuildPass login. The site manager checks it against a review checklist you edit, then marks it reviewed or sends it back. Workers only see SWMS you have reviewed, and they read and sign them during their induction. Each SWMS lists every worker who signed it, with the date and time. A revised file becomes a new version, and workers are asked to sign again. You can set how many days a signature lasts. When it lapses, workers are asked to sign again. You can also record a signature for a worker who signed on paper or has no phone. Asked whether a SWMS can keep someone off site, the page says not by default. For a hard stop, a setting stops workers inducting until their company has a reviewed SWMS on the project. BuildPass SWMS.

Our reading: BuildPass collects a subcontractor's SWMS through a link, with no BuildPass login, and can stop the induction until a reviewed SWMS is on the project. That stop is off by default. Set2Go does not publish that link or that stop. A missing ticket can block BuildPass sign-on when that setting is on. On Set2Go the ticket line is a warning, and check-in still goes ahead. If collecting subcontractor SWMS and blocking the gate on a missing certification is what you need, BuildPass is the better fit.

Price and trialFree is A$0 for 1 active site and up to 10 workers. Starter is A$79 a month or A$790 a year, including GST, with 3 active sites and unlimited workers. Extra active sites are A$25 a month, including GST. There is no separate price per worker. Founding is A$49 a month, including GST, for the first 10 companies, locked for 12 months, and Set2Go converts their existing PowerPoint induction for free. The trial is 14 days, with no card. Starter has no lock-in contract.

Asked "Why don't you publish prices?", the plans page says what you pay depends on the plan and how many admin users need a login, and that the answer differs for a five-person builder and a fifty-person head contractor. It says BuildPass would rather show the product and give a real number than post one that turns out to be wrong. It defines an admin user as anyone who works in the BuildPass app rather than the worker app, and gives the site manager as the example. It says subcontractors and workers are not admin users, and that they work in the worker app at no extra charge. It says every plan runs unlimited projects, subcontractors and workers, and that history is not capped. It says "Not locked in." You can move between Lite, Standard and Pro, and add or remove admin users, at any time, by emailing support@buildpass.ai. The page does not print a dollar amount. Win & Pay is offered by booking a demo. BuildPass plans.

The signup page's HTML shell does not print a price. A script on that page prints three cards: Lite at $129/mo, Standard at $149/mo, and Pro at $349/mo. Each card says Includes 3 users. Lite adds $49/mo per additional user. Standard adds $59/mo per additional user and is marked most popular. Pro adds $99/mo per additional user. The Lite lines are Photos, Documents, Daily Logs, Safety Management and Compliance Tracking. Standard adds Scheduling, Drawing, Punch Lists and Team Collaboration. Pro adds Workflows, Custom Reporting, API Access and Priority Support. That script does not say the amounts are Australian dollars, does not mention GST, and does not mention a trial. BuildPass signup.

On fees, the terms say all fees are payable in Australian dollars, though a transaction may be processed in an equivalent foreign currency such as US dollars. They say: "GST is applicable to any Fees charged by the Company. Unless expressed otherwise, all Fees shall be deemed exclusive of GST." They say the company will provide a tax invoice. They also say subscription fees renew automatically for the same length unless cancelled, and that a fee already paid for the current period is not refunded. BuildPass terms of service.

Our reading: The plans page does not print a dollar amount, and it says why. The signup script prints $129/mo, $149/mo and $349/mo, each with 3 users included, plus a per-user amount. It does not say those amounts are Australian dollars, and it does not mention GST. The terms say fees are payable in Australian dollars, and that unless a fee is expressed otherwise, fees are exclusive of GST. The signup script does not express GST. This page does not add GST, and it does not treat the signup amounts as the price on the plans page. The signup cards say "users". The plans page says "admin users", and it says workers are not charged. This page does not treat those words as the same limit. The signup feature lines also do not match the plans table: signup Lite lists Documents, and the plans page starts documents on Standard; signup Standard lists Drawing, and the plans page starts drawings on Pro. The terms allow a promotion to include a free trial period. They do not state a length, and they do not say whether a card is required. The product pages say book a demo. Set2Go prices include GST.

Set2Go prices, the free plan, and the 14-day trial are written up on the pricing page. Inductions without a gate are contractor inductions. The gate itself is site sign-in.

What those BuildPass pages do not describe

  • The inductions page says a site safety plan can be a PDF, shown page by page, and that a slide deck needs exporting to PDF first. None of the BuildPass pages checked on this date describe uploading a PowerPoint, walking through it slide by slide, or storing a time for each slide. That is an absence on those pages. It is not a finding that the feature cannot exist somewhere else.
  • None of those pages describe a quiz that stays locked until a full slide deck has been viewed. The inductions page says questions do not have a pass mark, and that a person marks the induction reviewed.
  • None of those pages describe a PIN at scan-in, or a worker check-in that queues on the phone when there is no signal.
  • None of the product pages checked state a trial length, or whether a card is required. The terms say a promotion may include a free trial period. They do not say how long. This page does not fill that in.
  • https://www.buildpass.ai/features/health-and-safety/geofencing returned HTTP 308 to https://www.buildpass.ai/features/health-and-safety/sign-ons on 24 October 2026. Claims about geofencing are taken from the sign-on page, the plans table, and the Lite page. The redirect itself is not a feature description.
  • https://www.buildpass.ai/terms-and-conditions was opened on the same date and also contains the sentence that fees are exclusive of GST unless expressed otherwise. This page cites https://www.buildpass.ai/terms-of-service for that sentence. The terms link a privacy policy at https://www.buildpass.com.au/privacy. That .com.au URL was not fetched. The privacy policy used here is https://www.buildpass.ai/privacy-policy. The US site was not used.
  • The signup page's prices are in a script. They are not in the HTML shell, and they are not on the plans page. This comparison quotes the script and does not treat it as the plans page.
  • The Australian homepage publishes activity totals, a network count, an average induction length, and named quotes. The feature pages include illustrated lines, including the name Northside Apartments. This comparison does not use those figures or names.
  • This page did not book a demo, complete a signup, or open a signed-in project. In-app screens beyond the public pages were not used as claims.

FAQ

Is Set2Go a replacement for BuildPass?

Set2Go suits a business that already has an induction PowerPoint and wants each worker to finish that deck on a phone, with a quiz after the full deck and an optional site QR code and PIN. BuildPass's pages describe a construction platform: phone inductions with a manager review, certifications, subcontractor SWMS, geofenced sign-on, and, on wider plans, scheduling, drawings, defects and finance. If that platform is what you need, BuildPass is the better fit. Set2Go does not publish geofenced sign-on, a subcontractor SWMS link, estimating, or finance.

When is BuildPass the better fit?

BuildPass is the better fit when workers should scan a site QR, finish an induction in the browser, and be blocked from sign-on until that induction is finished, with an optional hold until a person has reviewed it. It is also the better fit when you want a radius around the site that pushes workers to sign on and off, or the Beta auto sign-on and sign-off the sign-on page describes, a subcontractor SWMS sent in through a link with no BuildPass login, tickets and insurance expiries on the company, and a live on-site list with hours you can export. Standard and Pro add job admin, drawings and defects. Win & Pay adds estimating and finance. Set2Go is the better fit when the induction you already have is a PowerPoint, you want each slide view timestamped, the quiz locked until the full deck has been viewed, a certificate when they pass, and an optional gate with a site QR code and a PIN. A company-wide induction can run on Set2Go with no site, with an email reminder as the pass approaches expiry.

Does BuildPass run my PowerPoint slide by slide?

The BuildPass inductions page checked on 24 October 2026 says you can add a site safety plan as a PDF, shown page by page, and that a slide deck needs exporting to PDF first. Word files are not accepted. That page does not describe uploading a PowerPoint, walking through the slides, or saving a time for each slide. It says the questions do not have a pass mark.

Can the printed prices be compared as they stand?

Set2Go prices include GST. BuildPass's plans page does not print a price. It says the amount depends on the plan and how many admin users need a login. A script on https://signup.buildpass.ai/ prints Lite at $129/mo, Standard at $149/mo and Pro at $349/mo, each including 3 users, plus $49/mo, $59/mo or $99/mo per additional user. That script does not mention GST. The terms say that unless a fee is expressed otherwise, fees are exclusive of GST. This page does not add GST, and it does not treat the signup amounts as the figure on the plans page. The signup feature lines do not match the plans table. Set2Go's trial is 14 days with no card, and after the trial a workspace stays on Free if it is within Free limits. Starter has no lock-in contract. The BuildPass pages checked do not state a trial length. Use each company's own page before you decide. Details may change. This page was checked on 24 October 2026.

Will either product meet my WHS duties for me?

Using either product does not, by itself, meet your work health and safety duties. Set2Go is safety administration, not a statutory WHS system. BuildPass's Lite page says you can pull a report when an insurer, an auditor or SafeWork asks what happened on a given day. The Australian homepage says digital checklists and records help you stay WorkSafe-ready. Those are BuildPass's words. They are not a finding that either product meets your duties. You remain responsible for your duties as a PCBU or principal contractor, and for the content of your induction, site rules, and SWMS.

Do workers need an invite before they can scan in?

On Set2Go, yes. You invite them. They do not self-register. BuildPass's inductions page says workers scan the site QR or open a link, confirm a mobile number, and fill in a profile, and can continue in the browser without the app. The sign-on page says they scan the QR on the hoarding and choose "I am a worker on site". Those pages do not describe an invite from the company before that scan.
